The episode parodies Vietnam War movies such as Apocalypse Now, Platoon and Forrest Gump. Stan teaches Steve that the only way he can truly appreciate the national anthem is by participating in a war re-enactment, but the experience leaves Steve looking and acting like a traumatized Vietnam War veteran. The season premiered in the United Kingdom, on BBC Three on Sunday, Novem at 10 pm, with a double bill (despite the fact it already was on FX). The sixth season of American Dad continued with five more episodes. However, on April 5, it was announced that Sons of Tucson was canceled after a four-episode run. The season initially ended its 13-episode run on February 21 with the episode "The Return of the Bling" to make room for the new Fox sitcom Sons of Tucson and was set to return to the schedule in September. The season also marked the series move to airing in 16:9 high definition on Januwith the episode " Don't Look a Smith Horse in the Mouth". The entire season was released in the Volume Five DVD box set on Apin Region 1 on Jin Region 2 and Jin Region 4. The season consists of nine episodes from production line four (4AJNxx) and nine from production line five (5AJNxx). Steve says he will hate Stan until the day he dies.The sixth season of American Dad! aired on Fox from September 27, 2009, to May 16, 2010. Desperate for a crack fix, Stan tries to steal and then offers to perform an unnatural act on the father, ruining Steve's chances. Steve meets the girl of his wet dreams and finds out that even her father is on board - once he meets Steve's parents. He returns to Langley Falls and goes into rehab, coming out clean. Stan realizes that getting help does not make you weaker. A street punk tries to rob him but can't do it without help.
An overeager hostage negotiator gives him money and a plane and he heads to Columbia where he soon finds himself destitute. He steals from his family and friends but gets caught trying to rob Greg and Terry. Stan is convinced he can quit on his own but finds himself becoming more and more addicted. Supercharged he blasts his way through the CIA training course until Roger informs him he is on crack. Nursing a cold, he is offered 'medicine' by a street dealer and suddenly feels much better. Stan is furious because he believes that everyone should help themselves and he helps himself to the pot of soup. When Francine, gets arrested for an illegal U turn and drunk driving after she had drinks with Greg and Terry, she is sentenced to work in a soup kitchen.
Stan puts down liberal social programs because he thinks they’re a waste of money, more importantly, he believes it keeps people from solving their own problems.
